Foreign students of Kazan Innovative University got acquainted with the Russian tradition of bathing in an ice hole on the feast of the Epiphany and got an unforgettable experience.
On January 20, as part of the feast of the Epiphany, foreign students together with the staff of Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov visited Lake Ilyinskoye and the Temple of Elijah the Prophet in the Zelenodolsk district of the Republic of Tatarstan to plunge into a specially equipped ice hole. For many guys, this was the first such experience, from which they came to indescribable delight. For some participants, this was not the first time and they were happy to join this event from year to year. Although the students came from hot Colombia and Venezuela, where the air temperature does not exceed 15 degrees Celsius, they were not afraid of frost and cold water. They plunged into the ice hole with fortitude and enthusiasm.
After bathing, the students went to the temple, where Father Konstantin conducted an excursion and talked with the students. The event ended with a tea party with pies in a friendly atmosphere in the temple.
The foreign students of KIU were very impressed by the trip and were glad to learn even more about Russian traditions.
