Institute of Confucius admitted that the Chinese language teaching is conducted in the IEML at the highest level.
In our country too little people who know the Chinese language especially technical Chinese. Today as never technical translators, lawyers or economists with good knowledge of the Chinese language are demanded. This about Ms. Anastasiya Suleymanova, the senior lecturer of Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of Institute of economics, management and law (Kazan), the winner of the contest “The Best Young Teacher of Kazan universities-2015” told to the newspaper “BUSINESS Online”. She teaches students not only wonderful and beautiful the Chinese language but also to the Chinese etiquette. That is why her students can sew beads of happiness, they will give their visit card to a Chinese person only by two hands and will never give him a glass of cold water.
We need translators!!
- Anastasiya, why did you choose the Chinese language?
- I can answer this question as a teaching lecturer as professional translator. I see the situation from two sides. When I entered the university I understood that western language are not so requested in our country. Though Russia has got contacts with west countries but we buy equipment in other places. The Russian producer, the Russian market is oriented at China because it has a good balance of the price and quality. And I understood that if I will learn Chinese, I will always have a work.
- And when the West announced about sanctions and our connections with the East started to strengthen, you are, perhaps, said: I’m so provident …
- I thanked powers, which lead our fates for helped me to make a right choice. And now I recommend such choice to school graduates, which decide where to go to study. A school graduate, when chooses university should approximately understand which professions will be demanded over 5 years. As a translator I work with many organizations as in our republic as in Russia. And I can say that today almost all our equipment is bought in China. Along that, organizations face the problem of communication providing and documentation translation.
- Do we need translators?
- Very much! A producer sets a task to find a partner in China. For that purpose a person should free orient in Chinese internet-recourses. After that, need to conduct negotiations with the partner about optimal supplement. And when the equipment will be received need to help Russian specialists to work on it, provide their communications with Chinese specialists. Here emerges a big hole – we have too little people who know the Chinese language especially technical. If a school graduate is aimed at such kind of activity – a technical translation, lawyer or economist, who knows the Chinese language, he will have a work for next 50 years or maybe 100. Also translators of literature, history, culture are too demanded as well. I know it very well because cooperate with Beijing publishing house.
Students, who coming to China are falling in love to local people
- Can students get such specialties in IEML?
- Of course. We prepare translators, who know two languages – Chinese and English.
- But the Chinese language is considered as difficult language …
- If a person wants to learn the language, he will do it. Yes, the language is difficult, it is the second in difficulty ranking after Russian. Everything is different: grammar, phonetics, writing. But the Chinese language is so rich by its traditions, culture, that making its learning interesting and makes to forget about all difficulties. I do everything to motivate students. For example, as I’m a translator, I organize them interesting internships. When Chinese specialists come to a factory, I take students there. Chinese specialists work, do the launching and equipment adjustment, my students observe all the translational process near with me. I always ask them to take a notepad and a pen because vocabulary from student books is used mainly for official meetings. There is a specific vocabulary in the factory, as a rule you will not see it in a student book. That is why students make their own dictionary – put down there terminology, lexical forms, which they will need in their work.
Our graduate can work in any country of the world
- Institute of Confucius admitted that the Chinese language teaching is conducted in the IEML at the highest level.
- Institute of Confucius annually traditionally conducts, including in Kazan, a standardized state exam for the Chinese language for foreigners. Participation is voluntary but out students actively participate. After successful passing the exam students receive an international certificate, which is equal to a diploma of education. Such certificate allows our student to work in any country of the world. Besides, a certificate gives the right to participate in international contests and grants. Our students successfully pass this exam since 2009, they receive grants of Institute of Confucius and go to study in China in groups with 5, 7, 11 people. There they plunge in absolutely another world, another civilization. They fall in love in this nation, in this country, in this culture …
Hieroglyphs formed the portrait of the Great Pushkin
- Recently you have become the best young teacher of Kazan universities, have won in the contest “The Best Young Teacher of Kazan universities-2015”.
- This is the result of a collective preparation and big support from the Administration of our Institute. I was in a Chinese national suit and greeted everyone in the Chinese language. Of course, I told about our students grants, how they study in IEML and in China. Also we came up with how to show the handing of the east calligraphy art. I was painting hieroglyphs by a black ink at the empty poster to charming sounds of the Chinese music and was reading them to how they sound in original. And on the screen a translation at the Russian language was displayed, the famous letter of Tatiana from “Yevgeniy Onegin” : I’m writing to you, what more …” Hieroglyphs formed the portrait of the Great Pushkin. According to a reaction of the jury and the audience, they liked it. Our students like study the Chinese language very much. And as in a present political and economical situation partner relations of Russia and China get at the first plan, such specialists, I’m repeating, will be too demanded.
