Students of the preparatory department of KIU Nixon Steven Rodriguez Castillo (Colombia) and Roldan Mauricio Legarde Montealegre (Colombia) took part in the 2^nd round of the state Olympiad on Russian as foreign among students of the preparatory faculties (departments) of Kazan.

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds. Students showed their knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and communicative knowledge: making up a monologue on a definitive topic (KIU team had a topic about Kazan) and a dialogue with each other, scoring a cartoon (KIU team scored a cartoon “Prostokvashino”) and preparing answers on different questions of the jury. Only two of seven students were able to get to the 2^nd round. We are very glad that our students excellently dealt with all tasks in spite of the fact that they have been studying the Russian language and living in Russia only for 4 months! As the result, Nixon and Roldan from a team “No pasaran” got a gratitude letter for artistry.

A letter of gratitude was also awarded a KIU teacher on the Russian language Mimosa Fakhrutdinova for training students to the Olympiad and for her great personal contribution to this event.
