In the middle of December 2018, the XXIX Interuniversity Volga Region Friendship Festival of Peoples took place at KSTU.
Having become traditional, the festival gathered the best creative teams of students from universities of the Republic of Tatarstan and other Volga and Ural regions: Mari El, Chuvashia, Udmurtia, Mordovia, Bashkortostan, the Ulyanovsk region, the Caucasus, Africa, Sri Lanka, China and Korea.
During two hours there was a bright diverse of the national music and dances, united with an idea of peoples friendship that live in a common home, called Russia.
Spectators were impressed with a rich ethnic color of costumes, a talent, mastership and energy of young performers.
A music group “Golden lions” consisting of foreign students from Sri Lanka who learn the Russian language at KIU, participated in the Festival. The group presented a folk song in their native language accompanied by national instruments - Congo drums. The enchanting performance brought them an honorable first place, with which we congratulate them!
The festival united people of Asia, Africa, the East and the West. Every year the number of foreign students arriving at our universities increases, but their adaptation to our environment requires great efforts.
At Kazan Innovative University named after VG Timiryasov, we try to create for students the conditions for the manifestation of ethnic identity in multinational groups. We hope that the festival will contribute to the formation of humanism and peacefulness, which will introduce the values of the culture of the peoples living in the Volga region, the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions.
