KIU named after V.G. Timiryasov entered the TOP-5 rating of the leading private universities in Russia in the annual XI National University Ranking for the 2019/2020 academic year. The result is also unique because our university is the only regional university in this top.

KIU named after V.G. Timiryasov entered the TOP-5 rating of the leading private universities in Russia in the annual XI National University Ranking for the 2019/2020 academic year. The result is also unique because our university is the only regional university in this top.

The ranking includes all status universities of the country: 29 national research universities, 10 federal, 33 pivotal, as well as 21 universities participating in Project 5-100. The activities of seven non-state universities, including KIU, were also assessed. In total, the rating includes 337 leading universities and institutes of Russia.

The assessment was carried out on the basis of processing the data of questionnaires filled in by representatives of universities, available public data posted by educational institutions on their websites, public data of information resources of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as information from the information and analytical systems SPARK and SCAN. The activities of universities were assessed according to six parameters: educational activity, brand, research, socialization, internationalization (international activity), innovation.

This year, our university has improved its position in the following indicators: Socialization, Internationalization, Innovation.

The high indicator "Socialization" is due to the fact that the students of our university are provided with hostels, including new educational building of the KIU. In addition, "Socialization" includes such indicators as Continuing education, University participation in the development and implementation of programs for the socio-economic development of the country and the region, Development of the social sphere of the university (social programs).

The indicator "Internationalization" is the level of international activity of the university. During the 2019-20 academic year at KIU, the number of foreign students at the preparatory faculty and HE programs has increased. We have strengthened cooperation with many countries, the number of incoming students

from Latin America and Europe has increased, the number of invited foreign teachers has increased.

The university also improved its results in terms of "Innovation". It includes technological entrepreneurship at the university, a portfolio of patents (including a number of patents for unique automated systems to optimize the educational process), cooperation of the university with high-tech companies, a growing share of R&D without attracting budget funds.

Information agency "Interfax" has been compiling the National University Ranking of the country since 2010. This independent assessment of the activities of public and private universities in Russia is designed to increase the competitiveness of the education system and develop federal and regional universities.
