According to the results of the XII National Ranking of Universities of the Interfax agency, Kazan Innovative University named after V. G. Timiryasov took high positions, ahead of many Russian universities.

KIU has risen by 18 points in the ranking among all universities in Russia. According to the indicator "Education" among the universities of the country, the university improved the result by 169 points. According to the indicators "Brand", "Innovation" and "Research", KIU ranks 3rd among private universities in Russia.

The indicator "Education" includes several criteria, including "Quality of applicants" (average scores), "Scientific and methodological work of the teaching staff" (the volume of developed scientific and methodological materials, assessment of the level of settlement of scientific and teaching staff)," Organization of internships" (the number of enterprises and organizations with which agreements on targeted training and organization of internships were concluded and acted in 2020),"Work with schools and schoolchildren".

Within the framework of the project, experts evaluated the activities of 341 universities in Russia. The rating includes all the country's status universities: 29 national research universities, 10 federal, 33 reference universities, as well as 21 universities that participated in the 5-100 Project.
