Foreign students from Colombia together with Olga Sergeevna Maksutova, a teacher of the Russian Language Department, visited the ancient Russian folk festival "Kuzminki" on November 16 as part of an interactive educational project about the Russian annual holidays of the Republic of Tatarstan "The holiday will come – it will bring guests".
Mainly residents of Russian villages have celebrated the Kuzminki holiday since ancient times, as a symbol of fertility, marital happiness and the end of the harvest.
Foreign students who attended this event for the first time at the Pushkin Cultural Center were not left indifferent by traditional choruses, cheerful folk songs, games and live accordion. They enthusiastically participated in the games held by the presenters and actors of the center. Although the guys have been living and studying in Russia for only 2 months, they are actively interested in Russian culture and history. This time they got acquainted with the history of the holy unmercenaries and miracle workers Kuzma and Demyan, and learned about the folk traditions of celebrating this day in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Students and all participants of the event received vivid impressions, emotions from what they saw and fell in love with Russian culture even more.
