Anastasia Mikhailova, a third-year student of the KIU College (pre-university education), became the absolute winner of the Yunus Akhmetzyanov International Culinary Tournament and will go to study at the popular Novikov School culinary school in Moscow. In total, more than 350 young talents from Russia and neighboring countries took part in the competition, but only 8 finalists competed for the title of winner in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan!
Kazan Innovative University together with the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of the Republic of Tatarstan became the organizer of the first ever International Culinary Tournament named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov in digital format! The competition is created for talented young chefs who are just starting their way in this field. The Yunus Akhmetzyanov Culinary Competition is being held for the fifth time and KIU is traditionally one of the organizers of this event. For the first time in the history of the tournament, the qualifying stage was organized in an online format, and the final was accompanied by a live broadcast from the kitchen, so you can still enjoy the cooking process and the spirit of the competition on the VK page of the tournament.
This year the competition is of particular importance – chefs from all regions of Russia and neighboring countries were involved in participation, more than 350 applications were accepted, of which only 8 of the most talented participants reached the final. The main task of the finalists was to reflect the rich history and traditions of the peoples living in the republic in the preparation of culinary delights. The final of the tournament was held at the site of the Hotel and restaurant complex “Tatarskaya Usad’ba” (“Tatar Manor”) (under the judging of the Guild of Chefs of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The opening of the final of the tournament was held in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of many honored guests, the President of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan, Gayazov Zufar recalled that the tournament is a gastro event aimed at the development of national cuisine in the Republic.
The announcement of the results and the awarding of the winners took place already at the Popov Technopark in Innopolis. Recall that the main prize of the competition is a certificate for 45,000 rubles at the popular Novikov School culinary school in Moscow and a cup in the form of a rolling pin made of recycled plastic.

Student of the 3rd year of the College (Pre-University education) of KIU in the direction of Technology of public catering products. Anastasia prepared a dish for the strict jury – "Duck with root vegetables". Her mentor was the brand chef of the Level kitchen restaurant Shamshod Rakhmanov.

The winner in the nomination "View without Borders" is Anton Ovsyannikov, Naberezhnye Chelny, a student of the Naberezhnye Chelny Trade and Technology College.
The winner in the nomination "Technologies of the Future" is Daniyal Minkagirov, Jalil village, Sarmanovsky district, a 4th-year student of the International College of Service.
The winner in the nomination "Fundamental Knowledge" is Rafis Zamaletdinov, Kzyl-Chishma village, Batyrevsky district, Republic of Chuvashia, student of Kazan Trade and Economic College.
The winner in the nomination "Keeper of Traditions" - Dilara Dokukina - Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.
The winner in the nomination “Design” is Grigory Stepanov, Kazan, chef of the Giviko restaurant.
The winner in the nomination "Social Responsibility" - Denis Rakov, Kazan, studies at the Kazan Trade and Economic College and works as a chef in the Milan restaurant.
The winner in the nomination "Locality is in trend" - Ilnur Samarkhanov, Almetyevsk, studies at the Kazan Cooperative Institute and works as a cook at the “Utka V Kotelke” (“Duck in a Cauldron”) restaurant.
The international culinary tournament is named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov, he entered the history of the Tatar people as a popularizer of the traditions of national cuisine, a researcher who stood at the origins of the revival of the customs of hospitality of the Tatar people. Kazan Innovative University honors the memory of the outstanding chef by publishing and storing books about him. At the final of the competition, all guests and participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the works about the talented cook and Tatar culture in general.
