Foreign students of the Kazan Innovative University took first and second places in one nomination for knowledge of the Russian language at A2 level.

From February to March 2023, ten foreign students of the Preparatory Faculty of the KIU and the bachelor's degree in Linguistics took part in the international Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language "Lobachevsky RU", organized by the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) online.

With the assistance of teachers from the Department of Russian Language and Linguistics of our University, students prepared interesting videos on topics such as "10 amazing places in Russia", "Amazing traditions of my country" and "Unusual personality of my country" in Russian for participation in the first qualifying round.

According to its results, six students successfully passed to the second round, which consisted in answering spontaneous questions from the organizers. In particular, the jury members were interested in which university the students study at, whether they like the city where they study, asked the guys to tell about their hometown, what they like about Russia and much more.

In the final part of the Olympiad, all participants paired up and got an individual situation, according to which it was necessary to play an interesting dialogue. For example, our student from Colombia, Fandiño Rios Carlos Sebastian, had the task to discuss the problem in the dorm with a roommate who is disturbed by noise in the evening. All situations were vital and our foreign students coped perfectly.

In the nomination "Basic level (A2)" Rodriguez Maldonado A.J. took first place, and Romero Silva S.I. a well-deserved second.

KIU students passed a serious selection among other 946 contestants from different countries and won a worthy victory. Each of the participants received certificates, and the winners were additionally rewarded with memorable gifts.
