The agreement signed in Beijing between Kazan Innovative University, Eastern Liaoning University and the Center for International Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the PRC is a breakthrough in international cooperation between Russia and China. KIU students will be able to study under the dual degree program at one of the leading universities in the Middle Kingdom.
The new agreement expands the horizons of cooperation between the two universities. Earlier in 2020, KIU and Eastern Liaoning University signed an agreement that allowed students from the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication of KIU to take a free one-year internship in China to study Chinese as a foreign language.
Now KIU students have the opportunity to study under a grant from the Ministry of Education of China under the dual degree program: two years in Kazan, then two years at Eastern Liaoning University. Upon graduation, the student receives two diplomas: KIU and a Chinese university.
The visit of the KIU delegation headed by Rector Asiya Timiryasova included an extensive program. And first of all, the rector got acquainted with the conditions in which the students and teachers of KIU who are undergoing an internship now live and study. “The guys say they like everything. First of all, they note the high quality of education and qualified teachers. For them, the Chinese university also organized a rich cultural program, acquaintance with the sights of China, - says Asiya Timiryasova.
According to students, this program is the most effective study of the Chinese language and a deep, exciting immersion in Chinese culture, which can only be imagined. And everything is absolutely free, at the expense of a grant from the Ministry of Education of China. Moreover, our students receive a scholarship of 2,500 yuan (about 27,000 rubles) here. Studying on campus, living in a hostel, a cultural program, textbooks, medical insurance - all this is included in the training. By the way, fines are deducted from the scholarship for not attending classes, but KIU students have no complaints throughout their studies. They say that Kazan university students are no less motivated and diligent than the Chinese themselves.
It is important to note that the city of Dandong, where the training takes place, is an environmentally friendly place. There are no industrial enterprises here, but only tourist facilities, educational and cultural institutions. The conditions here are ideal for living and studying.
“Language immersion is the best way to improve your level of Chinese,” says the program participant. - Speech begins to be perceived much easier. You have to build language structures and phrases in your head. It makes your brain work all the time, because you simply have no other choice but to speak Chinese. As a result, writing speech and listening become better.
Russian students at the Chinese university are especially loved, as they love and respect Russian culture. Not only in words: many Chinese know Russian folk and Soviet songs by heart (many of which have been translated into Chinese), adore our cinema. So the attitude towards students from Russia here is especially warm and friendly. However, without concessions in study.
KIU students live in comfortable double rooms. But life in a hostel takes only a small part of the training. Basically, these are training sessions and numerous extracurricular activities (where else to take part in a tea ceremony, if not in China?), work in a huge university library with an impressive book fund. Students have a lot of impressions. In an interview, they can talk about them endlessly, but the main thing is gratitude to KIU for the unique opportunity to live and study in China.
The tripartite agreement signed between KIU, Eastукт Liaoning University and the Center for International Language Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China is an important step in strengthening scientific and educational cooperation and prospects for students from both countries. Upon graduation, KIU students will become highly qualified specialists with knowledge of the Chinese language. This will help build economic and political ties between Russia and China even more effectively. The union of the two powers is now stronger than ever, and the students of the Kazan Innovative University will become guides for its strengthening.
It is important to note that not only students of the Faculty of Linguistics and Intercultural Communications of KIU, but also students of other departments of the University will receive opportunities to study in China.
It should be added that Kazan Innovative University has been one of the leading universities in Russia for the training of translators and teachers of the Chinese language for almost 15 years. At KIU, students study the language, including in internships at universities in China. The University also cooperates with the Yunnan Normal University (master students from KIU study here), as well as with the Liaoning Petrochemical University.
