On May 28, foreign students of KIU became part of a grandiose festival that takes place throughout Russia - "Karavon".
The Karavon holiday, which is already over 300 years old, is timed to coincide with the patronal feast - the day of Saint Nicholas, one of the most important in the peasant calendar: by this time, the sowing of the main crops ends. It has been celebrated in Tatarstan since 1993, and this year it was the 31st festival in a row, which was attended by more than 15 thousand people and 186 creative teams took part, delighting guests with folk songs and dances.
In addition, the students also walked around the fair, where masters of traditional crafts presented their works: kokoshnik, kartuz, textile dolls, wooden utensils and much more.
This is not the first Russian holiday that the foreign students attended, this academic year they have already visited Maslenitsa and Kuzminki. But Karavon struck them with the scale, colorfulness and abundance of songs and dances. They were greatly impressed by the holiday and became even closer to Russian culture.
