As part of the participation in the All–Russian festival "People's Boat" dedicated to the development of river navigation and crafts, foreign students of KIU traveled along one of the largest rivers on Earth - the Volga on a comfortable motor ship.
The trip was organized by the Department of International Relations in cooperation with the Department of Russian Language and Linguistics of KIU. The students went from the river port of Kazan to the island-city of Sviyazhsk, which is of great importance in the history of Russia. During the river trip, students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the local natural views and interesting places that the ship sailed past. Upon arrival, a tour of the island in a foreign language was organized with a visit to the main attractions of the island – the Trinity Church of Ivan the Terrible, the Church of All the Sorrowful Joy in the Neo-Byzantine style and much more. Thanks to the identity of the island, students have deeply imbued with the history of the country where they study, its way of life and culture.
Special admiration was caused by the surrounding nature and landscape views.
At the end of the trip, students as spectators took part in water rowing competitions, a parade of river vessels and other folk events.
All participants of the river cruise note that it was an unforgettable trip.
