On Yunus Akhmetzyanov’s birthday, the Kazan Innovative University named after V. G. Timiryasov hosted the I All-Russian art exhibition of food design objects among students of secondary vocational schools, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Kazan Innovative University. More than 135 students from all over Russia took part in it. The event was organized by the university with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The art exhibition has become a real space of creativity, inspiration and new ideas. The food design presented by the participants, combining art and gastronomy, amazed everyone present with its diversity, creativity and beauty.
Welcoming the participants, the rector of the Kazan Innovative University Asiya Timiryasova noted: “Today education and science are developing so rapidly that all specialties are becoming multidisciplinary. Until recently, it was difficult to imagine that culinary specialists would compete in the art of culinary design, and designers would develop dishes for catering facilities. This suggests that the profession of a designer, a chef, or a tourism specialist is based on creativity and initiative, which always lead to success.”
Recalling the importance of training for the development of the tourism industry in the republic, Andrei Fedorov, head of the vocational education department of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted: “Traditionally, Kazan Innovative University looks forward and trains personnel that will be in demand in the near future.”
Deputy Director of the Kazan City Tourism Development Committee Diana Abdulkhakova expressed confidence in the success of this unique exhibition, which combined fine art and gastronomy, emphasizing that “the appearance of such projects in our city, which is not only the sports capital of Russia, but also the gastronomic one, contributes to the development city and assigning this status to it.”
The All-Russian art exhibition of food design objects became a platform for more than 135 young students from different parts of Russia, including Vologda, Penza and Yoshkar-Ola. Students from secondary vocational schools demonstrated their creative work in nine unique categories, including food art, dough, chocolate and sugar, wedding loaf, catering environment design, gastronomic tourism and many others.
Twin sisters from Zainsky Polytechnic College Victoria and Anastasia Popkovs are studying to become food technologists. The students made an original tea composition from four packs of pasta - a large samovar, a tray, a cup, a saucer, a spoon, a sugar bowl and a candy bowl. The pasta is fastened with PVA glue and painted. The painstaking work took about a month. According to the participants, the most labor-intensive item was the samovar, which was based on a balloon. The tea arrangement serves as a symbol of family unity, which gathers around a large table.
For the competition, student of the Naberezhnye Chelny Technological College Lirina Sharafutditnova baked a three-tiered wedding loaf made of two-color dough, decorated with two swans - symbols of love and fidelity. “The loaf is made from rye and wheat flour, the two colors symbolize the reunion of the female and male souls. The product weighs 5.5 kg and took three days to produce. Masters and classmates helped me,” noted Lirina.
Students of the Nizhnekamsk branch of KIU Alexandra Dolovatenko and Polina Grishina are studying to become catering technologists. They made an original edible flower arrangement from sugar mastic, which they called “Alone with the Dream.” In the center of the composition are miniature figures of a man, woman and child. “Every person dreams of a big, strong, friendly family. We want everyone, looking at our work, to be able to imagine themselves in the place of this happy family,” said Alexandra.
Another original work - a huge picture of food products - was presented by first-year student Vasilina Filenkova from the Naberezhnye Chelny Technological College. The work is called “My family is my wealth.” Its base is made of sugar mastic; chocolate and sugar icing, caramel, corn starch, wafer paper, and dyes were also used in the work. The main character, a girl in a hat, blows soap bubbles, each of which has a meaning. The image of a happy family is revealed in the largest bubble. The topic of a special military operation did not go unnoticed. “Now many dads have left to defend their homeland. Our picture has meaning - we want to say that families are waiting for the return of their defenders,” explained college teacher Anastasia Rotanova.
Evaluating the work of the participants, members of the expert commission - pastry chefs, honored artists of the Republic of Tatarstan, architects, designers, directors of tourism organizations - took into account the technique and level of complexity of the work, skill in using materials (ingredients), artistic and professional performance, overall impression and presentation .
The winners and prize-winners of the exhibition in each category were those participants who scored the most points. They were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
