On October 2nd, a presentation of the Brazilian stage of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" program was held at KIU. The choice of date is not accidental: this very day is proclaimed by the UN as the International Day of Non-Violence in honor of Mahatma Gandhi – the father of the Indian nation, as Indians themselves call him.

The program is an instrument of people's diplomacy and aims to bring the peoples of BRICS closer through the joint implementation of projects in the fields of culture, enlightenment, education, healthcare, charity, and business cooperation to support the spiritual and moral state of people, strengthen health, and improve the quality of human life.
In 2024, Russia presided over BRICS, and its "great" summit of heads of state was held in Kazan. In 2025, Brazil will assume the presidency. It was at KIU last year that the Russian stage of the program concluded with the BRICS Youth Festival. The opening of the BRICS auditorium at KIU was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Alekseevich Ryabkov.
Of great importance to the program is the "Great Teachers of BRICS" project, aimed at promoting the humanistic legacy of such outstanding representatives of their countries as Mahatma Gandhi, Leo Tolstoy, Confucius, Rabindranath Tagore, Nelson Mandela, Nicholas Roerich, Omar Khayyam, Musa Jalil, and Baron Rio-Branco.
The first vice-rector, vice-rector for scientific work, Professor Igor Izmailovich Bikeev introduced the students to the Brazilian stage of the program. He spoke about the correspondence between Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi, about other outstanding representatives of the BRICS countries, including the "father of Brazilian diplomacy" Baron Rio-Branco, about the values of BRICS, its prospects, and much more.
The event concluded with the performance of the BRICS youth anthem – a solemn piece created with the participation of KIU students and teachers.
