On July 13, a graduation ceremony was held for students from Latin America, Europe and Asia who successfully completed the preparatory faculty of KIU.
The ceremony began with a positive video, which was prepared by the Department of International Relations of KIU under the leadership of Ekaterina Vracheva, bringing together many moments that were experienced during the past academic year together with foreign students.
In addition to the well-deserved documents confirming the successful completion of the educational program, foreign graduates were awarded certificates of honor and gifts for their active participation in sports and social events of the university and the Republic of Tatarstan from the hands of the vice-rector for Economics and Strategic Development of KIU Lilia Vorontsova and the Head of the Department of Russian Language and Linguistics of KIU Alla Khoroshavina.
In her solemn speech, Lilia Vorontsova congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and invited them to continue their studies at the university.
Despite the peak of the pandemic, in the center of which the students were, nothing prevented them from winning prizes at interuniversity sports events, showing off their knowledge at the city Olympiad in the Russian language, feeling the entire Russian and Tatar culture with every southern string of their soul, visiting numerous interactive exhibitions of our interesting city and exploring significant places of the cultural heritage of our republic.
Tears of joy, happiness and bright emotions overwhelmed everyone who became a part of this grand event – graduates, teachers, university administration and guests.
A year ago, just a few weeks, and in some cases a few days before the total closure of the state borders between the countries, more than 50 foreign students from different countries flew to Kazan for language and profile training, which leads to subsequent admission to higher education programs in Russian universities. Students actively studied not only the Russian language, but also biology, mathematics, history and other general education disciplines.

Mutis Ascanio Laura Sofia (Colombia): I want to say that studying at KIU is not only about learning. A year ago, with a lot of emotions, we came from different countries and met in one place – a large house called KIU. Our new home welcomed us as long-time family members, with good nature and a smile. This university has taught us that we need to work hard to make our dreams come true. We felt great support and care from the teachers and the university administration. This was especially important for us at the height of the pandemic. The university tried to make our stay here as comfortable and interesting as possible. We not only studied the disciplines of the curriculum, but also visited several amazingly beautiful places, participated in a huge number of various events. I have made new friends from Russia and other countries. Thank you, KIU!
