Our Fulbright teaching assistant Morgan Richardson (University of Tulsa, Oklahoma) who had been teaching English in KIU (IEML) for a year conducted 3 quizzes dedicated to differences between English language in the UK and the USA. KIU (IEML) students and secondary school students of Kazan took part in it.
The participants were plunged into the environment of English language and culture. They got to know the history of English language, culture and traditions of the UK and the USA, tried to read a text in Old English language, demonstrated proficiency in geography and lateral thinking. They also had a chance to talk to the native English speaker about everything they wanted to know.
The quizzes consisted of several parts: vocabulary, pronunciation, stress, knowledge of history and local landmarks. Some of the participants amazed Morgan with their erudition: “Not even all the Americans know these facts!”
