Sociology professor Heather Lee Mello (Harrisburg Area Community College, York, United States) came to the conclusion that modern society is not yet ready for tolerance. She shared her research in discrimination with students while giving a lecture in KIU (IEML).

Ms. Mello studies not only racial, but also gender and even hair color-based discrimination. She visited Kazan in the frameworks of research of migrants’ life here, especially from the Vietnamese community. She is particularly interested in how these migrants are able to get along with natives and keep their traditions alive.
