Students of Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov have returned from an exciting trip to China. They took part in an international summer camp hosted by Eastern Liaoning University in the city of Dandong.
The intensive two-week program harmoniously combined an engaging educational track with a rich cultural and sightseeing program. The participants included KIU students from a wide range of faculties, making the group truly interdisciplinary.
The main goal of the camp was to improve students’ language skills, overcome communication barriers, and discover a completely new country and culture. The program included daily practical Chinese language classes with native speakers. Lectures and interactive activities were adapted to different levels of student proficiency. In addition to language classes, KIU students attended a series of master classes and interactive sessions on Chinese culture, learned the basic techniques of Chinese calligraphy, and, under the guidance of professional chefs, took part in preparing the famous Chinese dumplings, learning the secrets of properly rolling the dough, shaping the dumplings, and creating authentic fillings.
The camp’s sightseeing program allowed KIU students to see the key historical, technological, and natural attractions of the Liaoning region. One of the most vivid and memorable experiences was climbing one of the sections of the Great Wall of China, from which breathtaking mountain landscapes could be seen.
“The trip was unforgettable! The Chinese side welcomed us very warmly and organized productive and memorable days for us! The schedule was so packed that we hardly noticed how quickly the days were passing! Some of my and many of the other students’ most cherished dreams came true! The most memorable part was seeing the Great Wall of China and the ruined bridge in Dandong! Everyone was thrilled, and we could hardly believe our eyes! Without a doubt, all the cities we visited will remain in my memory! These include Beijing, Shanghai, and Dandong! Thank you, KIU, for giving us this opportunity,” said Darya Abramova, a student of the Faculty of Applied Economics and Financial Technologies at KIU.
Participation in the Eastern Liaoning University summer camp became an important step in the development of KIU’s international relations. As students from different faculties traveled to China, each of them was able to view the country through the perspective of their future profession and broaden their horizons. The students not only gained invaluable experience in intercultural communication but also made lasting friendships with their Chinese peers.
Such international study trips demonstrate that KIU opens up the whole world to its students, providing unique opportunities for personal, academic, and professional growth regardless of their chosen field of study.
